The best time to visit Madrid
The best time to visit Madrid is during the shoulder season between March and May or September and November. During these months you can enjoy milder weather, less crowds and lower prices.
Madrid’s hottest months are July and August. The average temperature sits around 31°C, but some days can be unbearably hot and uncomfortable, reaching highs of 35°C to 40°C. So if you’re not a fan of hot weather or plan to spend a lot of time walking around the city and sightseeing, we don’t recommend this time of year.
December to February are the winter months in Madrid. The colder weather may deter you from some of the outdoor activities that the city has to offer.
How far in advance should you book flights to Madrid?
We recommend booking your airfare to Madrid from within Europe 45-60 days in advance to secure the best deals. However, if you plan to visit during peak season within the summer months, booking further in advance may be necessary.
If you’re travelling from outside of Europe, it’s best to start looking around 4 months prior. For great deals on flights, sign up to get updates straight to your inbox for free.
